I strongly believe in the inseparability of conditions affecting the brain and the mind, since both specialties [Neurology and Psychiatry] share the same organ – the brain. I believe in integrated training for brain-mind specialists in the future as was the case centuries ago. In other words the time for casting away “mindless neurology” and “brainless psychiatry” was yesterday. I also firmly believe in the concept of Integrative Psychiatry [combining the strengths of Allopathic Psychiatry with Ayurvedic Psychiatric methods] as one system of medicine is inadequate at present to meaningfully ameliorate the distress of all clients presenting to us. In other words, “all hands to the pump”, without compromising on patient safety and principles of evidence-based medicine is one of my mottos.
Experience

I have been in private hospital-based practice for the last 19 years and combine clinical practice with an active interest in clinical research in my subspecialties namely Dementia/Cognitive Neurology and Neuropsychiatry. I have developed, validated, and published clinical assessment scales [cognitive, functional, and neuropsychiatric] and a neuropsychological assessment battery for dementia and Neuropsychiatry and clinical-based studies on dementia and mild cognitive impairment. I collaborate with academics from various Universities as part of my research work and have guided graduate students in their research projects. I also enjoy teaching and lecturing whenever opportunities arise.
