Comprehensive mental healthcare

From self-care to support in life’s most difficult situations.
At Niyama, we cater to a range of mental health concerns, from mild to complex, viewing mental health care as a spectrum. Beyond addressing imbalances, our goal is also to prevent illness and promote optimal health. We embrace an integrative approach to mental health care, combining the clinical excellence of Western medicine with the evidence-based methods of Ayurveda. This approach allows us to create a unique standard of care, tailored to each individual's phenotype, nutrition, environment, and mental health goals.

Allopathic Psychiatry

Allopathic or Western Psychiatry approaches disease diagnosis in a standardised fashion by way of detailed history taking and psychological interview of the patient and by adhering to the DSM or ICD systems of disease classification. However, disease causation and treatment recommendations are personalised by collecting information according to the bio-psycho-socio-cultural framework.
Niyama’s proprietary clinical assessment protocols across all age groups [adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors] start with brief self-assessment questionnaires and Initial Health Information sections which are then supplemented by detailed clinical evaluations done over video calling by adhering to gold standard psychiatry protocols to ensure uniform, standardised assessment methods for every client coming into our platform.

Ayurvedic Psychiatry

Ayurvedic psychiatry is a specialized branch of the ancient mind-body system of medicine – Ayurveda, that focuses on understanding and treating mental health disorders. It recognizes the essential interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit and hence its focus is holistic and restorative, not merely ameliorative. At Niyama, we combine evidence supported Ayurvedic principles with conventional Allopathic approaches to address emotional disorders in a holistic way.
We have built proprietary protocols to undertake root cause analyses of one’s imbalances [Gunas and Doshas], leading to better understanding of the psychological, physical, and metabolic phenotype factors which trigger and influence psychological disorders. Based on this, personalized treatment plans to eliminate the anomalous root causes are then designed by employing ayurvedic medicines, prescription of healthy lifestyle practices and routines, individually tailored yoga for medical purposes, meditation and ayurvedic counselling techniques.

Psychotherapy

At Niyama we have consciously endeavoured to adopt the latest cutting-edge psychotherapeutic process namely, “Process Based Therapy” – (PBT) for the benefit of our clients. This model of psychotherapy moves away from a disease-based/diagnostic label focussed approach to an individualized approach targeting the functional processes important in the development and maintenance of psychological problems.
PBT is transdiagnostic and employs specific evidence-based interventions. This holistic, multi-dimensional, dynamic and feedback informed approach makes the psychotherapeutic treatment tailor made for the client and is hence more effective than all conventional psychological approaches.

Integrative Prescriptions

Unlike most mental health platforms available currently [which are mostly counselling services], Niyama also offers the convenience of issuing drug prescriptions, wherever deemed appropriate, [both Allopathic and Ayurvedic] following video consultations with specialists on our platform. We adhere to all current evidence-based practices and guidelines issued by National Medical Commission, India and are fully cognisant of our role of being responsible prescribers of psychotropic medications.

Medical Yoga

At Niyama we apply the classical principles of customising asanas as per the Ayurvedic imbalances of the mind and body [Gunas and Doshas]. As a clinical therapeutic approach, this aims to release unmitigated stress, repressed negative emotions and helps lighten the mind. As a preventative approach too, it can insulate the mind from the harm caused by the stress of day to day living.
